INTERVIEW: Lauren Conrad Talks About Her Upcoming #Beauty Book!

With several clothing lines, hit TV series, and best-selling books under her chic belt, it seems Lauren is on fire these days! Her seventh book, "Lauren Conrad Beauty," gives readers an inside peak into her pretty world with tons of hair and makeup how-to's, helpful tips and tricks, and inspirational images—this is one beauty bible not to miss.

What inspired you to write this "ultimate beauty guide"?
"I've learned so many things along the way, working with hairstylists and makeup artists at photo shoots—this book was an opportunity for me to share all of that."

How did you decide which trends to focus on in your book?
"When you're writing a book, you don’t want it to be overly trendy because you people to enjoy it for years and refer back to it. That was definitely something in the back of my mind when we were choosing what hairstyles to do and what makeup tricks to share."

Which parts did you have the most fun writing?
"I think the best parts to write were the things that I already know. I also love the nail art chapter because you can have more fun with nail art!"

What's it like working with your makeup artist, Amy Nadine?
"She's always pushing me to try little things, whether it’s a new way to do lashes or adding a bit of color to my lips. I’m so married to my look and besides making little tweaks to my lip color or eyes, it tends to stay the same."

Are you going to be trying any of those little tweaks this fashion week?
"For most of the shows, I’m doing my own makeup. This probably wouldn’t be the moment to take a big risk. But I’ll definitely be incorporating different lip colors, and most of my looks will include a cat-eye, because that’s what I do!"

This is your seventh book—how have you evolved as a writer?
"For me, the biggest struggle is sticking to a deadline and putting myself on a schedule. You aren’t turning in chapters at a time or a little at a time. You are turning in a manuscript. It’s kind of like putting together a puzzle and I’m really proud of what we were able to accomplish."

Do you have any plans for an eighth book?
"I’m actually working on it right now! It’s my third in my series, The Fame Game."

What are you most excited for readers to take away from your book?
"I think that makeup can be challenging, especially when you are younger. Everybody learns in different ways, whether it’s tearing out pages in magazines or replicating what your friends do. I think that it’s really nice to learn that makeup is different for every person. Everyone has a different feature on their face that they like to show off. One of the main messages in this book is to have fun with makeup. It’s not meant to cover you up. It’s meant to show off your favorite things about yourself."
