Lauren Conrad's Newest XO(eco) Collection!

Reality TV star turned fashion icon Lauren Conrad has always been known for her style. Following her run on MTV’s ‘Laguna Beach’ and ‘The Hills,’ she has launched two fashion lines and written several books, including “Lauren Conrad Style” and “Lauren Conrad Beauty.” Later this year, Lauren will merge her fashion sense with her eco-minded lifestyle, having partnered with BlueAvocado to design a line of eco-friendly bags.

The XO(eco) line offers cosmetics and travel bags and accessories, as well as lunch bags and shopping bags. They are as cute and stylish as her other designs, so you can be as fashion forward at the grocery store as you are at the beach or the pool. With such an eco-friendly culture, these bags are a perfect fit for the Denver lifestyle. Here is what Lauren had to say about the new line.

Why did you decide to partner with BlueAvocado?
For me the intersection of fashion and sustainability, is not a fad, it is the future. BlueAvocado allowed me a place to showcase my designs in a new area and to invite my fans to make a difference. Plus, the company is all run by women and I felt really good about helping other women entrepreneurs realize their dreams.

What is the inspiration behind the bag designs?
The main inspiration for all the collections is fun, timeless prints and styles. The new travel and beauty collection includes a vintage inspired falling rose print that I drew in an ivory and rose color palette. For the food on the go collection I was inspired by the nautical references I saw this season so the design includes classic micro-dots in navy and red, with a nautical boat and rope print. I also have an exclusive print I've developed for Kohl's with adorable high-back chairs.

Will they be launching at stores, or are they only available online?
They will be available online in July on Amazon.com (pre-orders in June) and Kohl's.com and in top retail stores this Fall.

Since you've become a fashion icon in your own right, how do you keep coming up with fresh new designs?
I have found that so much of what I design is inspired by what is around me. I pull ideas from travel and colors or patterns I see in other countries to the beautiful nature that’s right outside my front door.

How has growing up in Laguna Beach influenced your dedication to environmental issues?
The beach was our backyard, and it was where we spent so much time. We learned early on to treat the ocean and beach with care. That’s why this collection really means so much. All of the products are made with 50% post-consumer bottle fabric from a company I work with called Repreve, so we are upcycling waste with each product, and that means less waste on our beautiful beaches.
