This week, Lauren decided to take the plunge with a shade that her L.A. Colorist, Kristin Ess, has dubbed "pinky-peach." To create it, Ess mixed three shades of dye: Special Effects Hair Dye in Bright As F#@! Yellow, Fudge dye in Strawberry Fields, and a drop of Special Effects's Atomic Pink. She then added an ounce of water to the mixture to "make it more pastel." The resulting shade is concentrated on the ends of Lauren's hair and fades subtly up into the blonde. It's pretty, punky, and definitely peach.
Want to do it yourself at home? Ess recommends trying it on a test piece of hair first. "Always paint, rinse, and dry first to make sure the color is to your liking," she says. "Some may like it a little more yellow or pink depending on if your blonde tips are darker or lighter. For a more diluted formula, just add more water—one-half ounce at a time."
