Lauren Conrad Talks Fashion and Good Life Advice!

Man, what can’t that girl do? She’s a #1 New York Times bestselling author, she’s starred in a hit reality tv show (without losing her dignity *cough Heidi cough*), created successful clothing lines, runs laurenconrad.com and always, always has ridiculously good hair. Bitch. Just kidding. Our love for Lauren runs deep. Like far, far below Nemo’s home deep. So you can imagine our excitement when we got to talk to her. She talks about her latest novel, Infamous, the conclusion to the Fame Game series (if you haven’t read it, do it NOW), fashion and good life advice, of which she has plenty. Take it away, Lauren…

Hi Lauren, thanks for talking to us! Congratulations on Infamous. How do you find the time to write? What’s your process?
I like to write in the morning when my mind is clear and rested. For my novels I begin with a character and story outline, and then write based off that. For the beauty and style books it is actually more difficult as I have so much info and so many product shots. Those books take a lot longer to write.

Speaking of beauty products, what’s the one you couldn’t live without?
Moisturizer. Starting with hydrated skin is so important.

What do you do when you’re having one of those days where you just feel gross?
When I just feel like nothing is working a high pony or bun is an easy and sleek fix. Also concealer is amazing to cover up imperfections. Finally when I feel my worst I find the better I dress the better my mood is so don’t throw on your sweats.

Ah, we are very guilty of throwing on our pjs! Ok so what book changed your life?
Not sure about life changing, but one of my favorite books to read is The Great Gatsby.

What advice do you have for young aspiring writers?
Don’t stop writing and reading, keep pursuing what it is you love.

We got to know you on The Hills… what do you miss most about your reality television days?
I miss the crew to be honest. So many years together following intimate details of my life, they became like family to me.

On that show you had lots of ups and downs when it came to love and relationships. What did all that teach you?
Honesty is so important in any relationship.

What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
Less is more. Don’t over bleach your hair and don’t wear so much makeup!

Ok last one… It’s 10pm on a Saturday night, where are you and what are you wearing?
At home, watching a movie with friends. A cozy sweater and leggings.

Lauren Conrad On #TheHills Reunion: 'I'm not sure people want it'!

Lauren Conrad has expressed doubts about publicly reuniting with the cast of The Hills.
The reality star appeared in MTV's The Hills from 2006 to 2009, and was replaced by rival Kristin Cavallari for the final episodes. Speaking to Us Weekly, Conrad admitted that she's unsure if the public would be interested in a Hills reunion. "I didn't know anybody wanted a reunion," Conrad joked. "I think we have mini reunions sometimes on our own, but I don't think there's any plans for an official reunion."

Conrad went on to suggest that she likely will never return to reality television. "I think reality television is very different than it was a few years ago," she said. "I think people are going more and more for shock value. "And as much as The Hills was laced with scandal and catfights and whatnot, I think it was still meant to be an aspirational show.

"We were working toward something, we were living our lives, we were having relationships… I think there was still a little bit of heart in our show - at least I like to think so." Cavallari has claimed that she and Conrad have made peace, after years of being pitted against one another on reality television. MTV recently made headlines by announcing that an alternate series finale for The Hills will air next month.

Lauren Conrad Enjoying Short Vacation in Nantucket!

Lauren Conrad has taken some time out of her busy schedule and escaped to a deserted beach for some downtime.
The former Hills star, 27, was pictured walking along the empty sand yesterday (24 July) while holding her sunhat above her head. Lauren had kicked off her shoes and was wearing a simple cotton dress as she gazed out at the vast blue ocean and into the distance. Sharing the photograph on Instagram, Lauren joked: "If anyone needs me, I'll be making sandcastles..."

Lauren is thought to be visiting Nantucket, a small island located 30 miles south of Cape Cod in the US.
While there, she has also shared a candid close-up photograph showing just her right eye,
perfectly applied black eyeliner and her straw hat. Stunning!

Lauren Conrad Talks About Her New Book, The Future & Fourth Of July Plans!

Lauren Conrad—former reality television star of MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills, fashion designer, and author—recently released Infamous, the finale to her Fame Game novel series. Real Style caught up with Lauren as she embarked on a multiple-city book tour.

Real Style: In the synopsis for Infamous it says fame can turn a girl into a target. Is this realization from personal experience?
Lauren Conrad: I think so. When you put yourself on a pedestal, people are pretty quick to tear you down. I think you learn to take the good with the bad; some people are going to like you, some people are not.

Real Style: Do you plan on writing more?
LC: This is the last book I’ve signed on to write. I may take a brief break since I’ve been going non-stop for years, but I do want to continue. I just haven’t decided what the next project will be. I have a few ideas—I’m keeping them to myself at the moment.

Real Style: What else to you have in the works right now?
LC: The nice thing about the fashion industry is that you’re constantly working on something new, so between my two lines—LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown—and my XO(eco) bag line, I have new collections coming out. And with Kohl’s, I just launched bedding, which was really exciting.

Real Style: How important is having a personal life?
LC: I sacrificed a personal life for a really long time, and you know the people I loved, who were around me, were also affected by it. So, it’s definitely something I don’t take for granted.

Real Style: Any special plans for July 4th?
LC: I throw a party every year for 4th of July—it’s my favorite holiday. I have a house near the beach, so we spend the day at the beach, then walk up, mix up a bunch of drinks, barbeque, hang out in the pool…it’s a lot of fun.

Real Style: What is your go-to July 4th look?
LC: It’s usually a pair of shorts and a gingham or plaid top with a bikini. It’s very casual.

Real Style: You’ve built yourself as a brand and had great longevity so far. What advice would you give others trying to do the same thing?
LC: It’s just important to do what you really enjoy. I’ve been really fortunate that I’ve been able to do what I love. And it’s also OK to say no. I’ve spent years saying no to things. It’s important to be selective with both projects and partners.

Lauren Conrad's Newest XO(eco) Collection!

Reality TV star turned fashion icon Lauren Conrad has always been known for her style. Following her run on MTV’s ‘Laguna Beach’ and ‘The Hills,’ she has launched two fashion lines and written several books, including “Lauren Conrad Style” and “Lauren Conrad Beauty.” Later this year, Lauren will merge her fashion sense with her eco-minded lifestyle, having partnered with BlueAvocado to design a line of eco-friendly bags.

The XO(eco) line offers cosmetics and travel bags and accessories, as well as lunch bags and shopping bags. They are as cute and stylish as her other designs, so you can be as fashion forward at the grocery store as you are at the beach or the pool. With such an eco-friendly culture, these bags are a perfect fit for the Denver lifestyle. Here is what Lauren had to say about the new line.

Why did you decide to partner with BlueAvocado?
For me the intersection of fashion and sustainability, is not a fad, it is the future. BlueAvocado allowed me a place to showcase my designs in a new area and to invite my fans to make a difference. Plus, the company is all run by women and I felt really good about helping other women entrepreneurs realize their dreams.

What is the inspiration behind the bag designs?
The main inspiration for all the collections is fun, timeless prints and styles. The new travel and beauty collection includes a vintage inspired falling rose print that I drew in an ivory and rose color palette. For the food on the go collection I was inspired by the nautical references I saw this season so the design includes classic micro-dots in navy and red, with a nautical boat and rope print. I also have an exclusive print I've developed for Kohl's with adorable high-back chairs.

Will they be launching at stores, or are they only available online?
They will be available online in July on Amazon.com (pre-orders in June) and Kohl's.com and in top retail stores this Fall.

Since you've become a fashion icon in your own right, how do you keep coming up with fresh new designs?
I have found that so much of what I design is inspired by what is around me. I pull ideas from travel and colors or patterns I see in other countries to the beautiful nature that’s right outside my front door.

How has growing up in Laguna Beach influenced your dedication to environmental issues?
The beach was our backyard, and it was where we spent so much time. We learned early on to treat the ocean and beach with care. That’s why this collection really means so much. All of the products are made with 50% post-consumer bottle fabric from a company I work with called Repreve, so we are upcycling waste with each product, and that means less waste on our beautiful beaches.
